Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate correlation between carbohydrate intake and Coronary Artery Stenosis Score in patients with Coronary Angiography(CAG).

Methods: 68 hospitalized patients who received CAG exam was randomly selected. Carbohydrate intake analysis was assessed through the food frequency questionnaire(FFQ) method. Their height, weight, Abdominal circumference(AC), body mass index(BMI), blood pressure(BP), glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C and LDL-C were measured. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS/WIN 21.0.

Results: Mean carbohydrate intake was 321g/day. T2,T3 group were associated with Diastolic BP, BMI and AC. T3 group was associated with TG and HDL-C. Coronary Artery Stenosis Score was associated with sex, marital status and smoking. Coronary Artery Stenosis Score showed a significant positive correlation with carbohydrate intake and
glucose.

Conclusion: These findings suggest that awareness of carbohydrate intake should be developed to care for coronary heart disease patients.
